I highly recommend a walking tour of Kilkenny with Brian. From once we met him, until we said goodbye nearly three hours later, (even though it was only supposed to be a two hour tour), we had a terrific time with Brian. He is very knowledgeable about the history of Kilkenny and is very passionate about his home town and made it a fun time for all of us. He has a great way with people and goes above and beyond. We were given access to places that we would never have been able to find/get into unless we were with him. A perfect way to see Kilkenny.

He was great with our kids and kept things interesting for all of us, while still giving us the depth and context we were looking for. He did a nice job customizing the tour so we could see the key sites we wanted, and added some thoughtful stops and small surprises along the way that we really enjoyed.

Our tour was amazing, informative and all the other superlatives you can think of! Brian was the best part, not only as a knowledgeable historian, but as a truly amazing human being. Our 90 min tour lasted 4 hours!! I can’t list all the the things Brian did for us, but he is one of the nicest people we met in Ireland. My wife lost her purse somewhere during the 24 hour period encompassing Brian’s tour and we only discovered it after we had left the area. Brian helped us by going to the Kilkenny restaurant where we ate and had them search CCTV footage for our time there to verify if she had the purse on exiting the establishment. We received a snap of the footage of our exit from Brian showing the purse!! That is the definition of going above and beyond!! Everyone should book a tour with Brian!! (We eventually got the purse back and Brian helped us narrow down where it could have been!)

We had a fantastic time on the Kilkenny Castle and Medieval Mile walking tour! Brian was knowledgeable, engaging, and made the history of Kilkenny come alive with great stories and insights. The pace was perfect, with plenty of time to take in the sights while learning so much about the city’s rich past. As a couple on our honeymoon, we especially appreciated the personal touches and recommendations for things to see and do afterward. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Kilkenny!

Our tour guide, Brian Hogan, was excellent as he was so knowledgeable, accommodating, and gracious. His knowledge of Kilkenny is very deep and he takes time to descibe key historical information and to answer any questions.

Our tour group was not large (4 of us including my wife and I from Toronto, Canada, and a very nice couple from Boston, U.S.A.) and the walking pace was just right.

We loved Brian. He was a great tour guide for our group of 5 from Pittsburgh PA, USA. Very friendly and knowledgeable. You could tell he was passionate about his job and as very curious visitors he was able to answer all of our questions. A splendid person to have met.

I highly recommend Brian’s tours. He was very knowledgeable, accommodating, and friendly. He not only showed us the must-sees but also the hidden gems of Kilkenny and the surrounding areas. Moreover, we were really happy with his food recommendations and list of things to do while in the area. Loved his tours!

Today was an amazing day. We met up with Brian at our designated meeting spot. He’s immediately was very personable and started telling us about history of Ireland and the Kilkenny area.. Everyone should be this lucky to have someone like Brian to show them the city. Please remember this is a tour that does not take you inside a lot of venues. It is about the history of the venues. Brian is a terrific tour guide. He has a wealth of information and just a true pleasure to spend time with. He goes out of his way to make sure you appreciate how unique Kilkenny is. I can’t say enough how grateful I am for the time spent!

We were lucky to find Brian on a very short notice to which he responded very quickly to our communications. He was patient with us getting to the meeting point even though our group had some logistical issues getting there on time. Brian has grown up in Kilkenny and is very passionate about its history. It was very apparent that everybody knew him at all of the landmarks, restaurants, and basically everywhere we went. I happened to mention that I was a firefighter and suddenly we were taking a little side adventure down to the fire station to meet the fire chief. He is also just a genuinely kind and pleasant person. He doesn’t know that I witnessed this, but my 6 year old daughter is pretty energetic moving around and asks lots of questions. Toward the end of the tour she was stuggling at one of the churches to light a prayer candle. As I watched from a distance. I saw Brian put money in the donation box and patiently help her light her prayer candle. He treated us like family. Toward the end of the tour we were famished. We sought out one of the recommended restaurants. The restaurant, at first, told us it would be over an hour wait because of the great Curling match everybody was there to watch. Brian got wind of this and walked in to have a friendly chat. He came out with a gentleman who told us they would have a table ready in 10 mins. I have friends going to visit Ireland and I’m already giving them Brian’s number if they visit Kilkenny. Thank you for such an awesome experience.

Brian’s Medieval Mile walking tour was absolutely top class. His deep knowledge of Kilkenny’s rich history, combined with engaging storytelling, made the past come alive. From ancient landmarks to hidden gems, he covered it all with passion and a great sense of humour. Three of us had a tour with Brian and we came away with a great understanding about how the medieval city of Kilkenny developed during the last 900 years. In addition to all the history and facts that Brian shared with us, he also told us many interesting and fun anecdotes and stories which really brought brought things to life. Brian conducted the tour at a nice pace and it was a great start to our holiday in southern Ireland.
